A “Diamond” in the Ruff

Diamond Deemer a beautiful black and white spotted dog, with dark soulful eyes was carried by her mother Corrina Deemer into the office of BeWell Chiropractic Health and Wellness Center on November 5th 2010. Up until that day, Diamond was a normal healthy and happy five year old dog that had been rescued from Hurricane Katrina back in 2006. Her mother told Dr. Jason Perillo of BeWell Chiropractic, that Diamond went to sleep on their couch three days before coming to his office.  Diamond woke up the next morning and started limping and was not acting her normal playful self.  After that day had occurred, Corrina woke up to another horrible sight.  Diamond’s entire backside of her little body had completely collapsed and she was unable to walk.  Corrina immediately brought Diamond to her veterinarian, where she was diagnosed with hind limb paralysis.  They told her that it was caused either by a hard blow to her body or just simply, degenerative disc disease.  They told her that she would never walk again and to invest in a “doggie cart” to aid in Diamond’s walking.

Corrina was unhappy with the diagnosis that her veterinarian gave her, so she started doing some research and through her own chiropractor she was referred to BeWell Chiropractic Health and Wellness Center, and Dr. Perillo.

Since the day Corrina brought Diamond into the office of BeWell Chiropractic, Dr. Perillo started treating Diamond with Low Intensity Light Laser Therapy, which is a technology that utilizes light energy to help restore normal cell morphology to injured tissue, thus stimulating the bodies’ natural healing processes.  He also used Ultrasound Therapy on her injured area.  Dr. Perillo knew from his initial examination that Diamond was not paralyzed and was confident that she would walk again.  Diamond went to Dr. Perillo twice a week for two months.  After a few treatments there was improvement with Diamond’s ability to first, stand on all her four legs, and by the fourth visit she started to walk a short distance.  She was even able to stretch, scratch and even go to the bathroom on her own.  Besides Dr. Perillo’s therapies, he recommended that Corrina should massage her hind body and legs and do water therapy in the bathtub.  Diamond became stronger and stronger after each of her treatments.  She was building muscle tone and walking better and longer distances each day.  By Christmas Day, diamond was jumping down steps and even running a bit.  It was Corrina’s best Christmas present ever!

Corrina and Diamond are forever grateful to Dr. Perillo.  He was able to give Diamond a second chance on life.  He helped her walk again, without any invasive and expensive surgery, just by doing Low Intensity Light Laser, Ultrasound and adjustments.  Believe in Chiropractics!
